Director General of the Business Climate at the Ministry of Economy and Planning, Mohamed Ben Abid, has stated that the workshops to prepare the national strategy for the promotion of SMEs, with its six pillars, aim to free private initiative and support young people in solving their problems in order to ensure the sustainability of their businesses, in particular by allowing SMEs to participate in public contracts, noting that the legal text relating to public contracts will be reviewed in this context.
In a statement to Mosaïque FM, he stressed that among the areas that will also be discussed to improve the climate for SMEs, there is the internationalization of SMEs in the light of the AfCFTA and COMESA agreements and promoting the export of the products of these companies and benefit from the advantages granted under these agreements.
This is, while encouraging innovative and renewable sectors, in particular with the Ministry of Finance, which provides financial incentives for SMEs to achieve high added value and technology.
In this context, Mohamed Ben Abid pointed out that the government is currently working on the publication of a horizontal legal framework to stimulate private investment and that it is planned to include companies active in the field of innovation and renewal in order to create a favorable environment for them.
He pointed out that this strategy dovetails with the strategy for improving the business climate and the rest of the ministry’s projects, including those related to the gradual elimination of permits and the revision of 167 specifications that have been inventoried as part of the ministry’s program, adding that 100 of them, dealing with economic activities, including agriculture and transport, will be revised and amended in 2025.
