Tunisia and EIB sign €38-million funding agreement

A funding agreement amounting to €38 million (around 125 million dinars) was signed, Wednesday in Tunis, between Minister of Economy, Finance and Investment Support Ali Kooli, and Head of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Representation to Tunisia and Algeria Jean-Luc Revéreault.

Under this agreement, an amount of €24 million (around 79 million dinars) will be dedicated to the National Water Distribution Utility (French: SONEDE). The goal is to launch a project that will meet Greater Tunis’s needs with drinking water.

The remaining amount of money, €14 million Euros (around 45 million dinars) will be made available to the Tunisian government to provide drinking water to the financial harbor in Kalaat el Andalous.

The total cost of this project is €76 million. It is partly funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) at an amount of €38 million.
