Tunisia: APII reports 6.9% increase in projects declared in the Q1 2024

The number of declared projects increased by 6.9% to 966 declarations in the first quarter of 2024, compared to 904, during the same period in 2023.

These projects will create more than 10,000 jobs, according to the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII).

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy on Thursday, the APII reported a 15.2% increase in foreign investments, to a value of 164.4 million dinars.

The number of new created projects also increased by 16.7%, accounting for 34% of all declarations.

The value of exports from the industrial sector increased significantly by 3% to 14.637 million dinars, resulting in a surplus of 635.1 million dinars in the industrial trade balance, compared to a deficit of 438.4 million dinars in the first quarter of 2023.

At the level of services, investments went up by 63.4% (13.1 million dinars in the first quarter of this year, compared to 191.6 million dinars in the first quarter of 2023).

The same data show that 2,772 out of a total of 4,198 projects have been completed or started, i.e. 66% compared to 63.9% in 2023 and 43% in 2022.
