Tunisia: Bail for Marouane Mabrouk reduced to TND 800 million

Mosaïque FM has learned from a well-informed source that the Special Criminal Chamber for Financial Corruption Cases at the Tunis First Instance Court decided to reduce the bail for businessman Marouane Mabrouk to 800 million dinars, as requested by his lawyers.

This decision follows a case against him concerning the Tunisian government’s 2017 decision to release his assets held by the European Union.

Also being prosecuted in this case are former Al Karama Holding CEO Adel Grar and several former ministers, including former Prime Minister Youssef Chahed and former Minister of State Property, Mabrouk Korchid.

During Monday’s hearing of the Special Criminal Chamber for Financial Corruption Cases, the prosecution had requested a bail of 1 billion dinars for Marouane Mabrouk’s release, in accordance with legal procedures, the same source recalled.
