BH BANK has been awarded AML 30000 certification, the international standard for combating money laundering, terrorist financing and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (AML/CFT).
The certification was awarded by the French organization COFICERT following an assessment of the bank’s AML/CFT system.
This is BH’s first AML 30000 certificate of compliance, following a two-year upgrade process. The AML 30000 standard, which is aimed at reporting entities as presented and designated by the FATF, is distributed and regulated by the IGSF.
The AML 30000 certification is part of the bank’s ongoing strategy to improve its internal processes and procedures. It demonstrates BH BANK’s ability to actively and sustainably combat the risks of financial crime inherent in its business.
The certificate was presented to BH BANK at a ceremony held at its headquarters on September 10, in the presence of Wajdi Koubaa, Managing Director of BH BANK, Ms Anne Guerbé, Vice-President of the Certification Body, accompanied by Cristian Mocanu, Jérome Gacoin and Souheil Skander.
“BH BANK was one of the first banks to fully commit to national and international efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. The bank has invested in human and logistical resources and has opted for aggressive but sound and compliant commercial development,” said Wajdi Koubaa.
Speaking at the event, Anne Guerbé explained that the AML 30000 certification is based on assessment systems governed by the ISO 17021 standard and is a concrete indicator for economic and financial operators seeking reliable and independent benchmarks in the area of AML/CFT.
The adoption of the AML 30000 standard contributes to the process of enhancing the value and attractiveness of BH BANK as a financial institution in line with the most stringent international compliance standards.
At the end of the ceremony, Taoufik MNASRI, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BH BANK, thanked all the teams that had made this award possible and stated that this certification was the result of the combined efforts of the Bank’s various structures.
By obtaining the AML 30000 certificate, BH BANK has confirmed the quality of its AML/CFT systems. This certificate of compliance is particularly noted and appreciated by observers and international banking correspondents operating in the Bank’s regional ecosystem. That standard, which has become the norm in the financial sector, particularly in emerging markets, has become an essential benchmark.
