Tunisia: British tourists up 29% this summer

The number of British tourists who visited Tunisia during the high season this summer posted an increase of 29 percent, according to the National Tourist Office.

Tunisia welcomed 287,541 Britons between January and August 2013, up 29.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

Last month, 55,329 Britons spent their summer holidays in Tunisia, up 26.5 percent compared to the figures of 2012, surpassing the record 22 percent record in 2010.

“Tunisia has long been a popular destination for British holidaymakers and these record figures reflect our strong and diverse tourist offer. With over 3,000 years of culture, beautiful natural scenery, over 45 luxurious thalassotherapy centers, and a range shops and resorts for families, we are confident that 2013 will be our best year ever,”says Wahida Jaiet, representative of the Tunisian National Tourist Office for the UK and Ireland.
