Tunisia: budget set at 26 billion 600 MTD in 2013

“The draft budget law for the year 2013 does not stipulate increases in circulation taxes on vehicles and in tax stamp on travel, as it was rumored, confirmed officially Slim Besbes Acting Minister of Finance.

He said after a Cabinet meeting on the draft state budget for 2013 held in Carthage that the volume of the budget will reach 26 billion 600 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) against 25 billion 401 MTD in 2012.

The minister said that the main resources of the budget will be divided between fiscal resources (16 billion 650 million dinars), non-tax revenues (3 billion 200 million dinars) and Islamic Sukuk (1,000 million dinars).

He noted that the Finance Law for 2013 will include 52 tax measures within the framework of the overall objectives of the Government’s economic and social program which are tax fairness, increased employment and investment, completion of the reform of the tax system and anchoring of guarantees to taxpayers.
