Tunisia buys 150 thousand tons of grains

Tunisia had, between July 20 and 22, 2020, bought 150 thousand tons of grain (durum and common wheat, feed barley), whose arrival in ports is due in September and October 2020, to cover additional demand for these products.

According to the newsletter of the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI) of August 2020, the grains include 25 thousand tons of durum wheat (21.2 dollars / ton), 50 thousand tons of common wheat (226.41 dollars / ton) and 75 thousand tons of feed barley (205.84 dollars / ton).

Shipments of soft and durum wheat will arrive in October, and feed barley in September and October 2020.

These acquisitions, in addition to the harvest, will make it possible to meet the country’s needs until February 2021 for durum wheat, until December 2020 for soft wheat and the beginning of December 2020 for barley, taking into account the strategic stock estimated at two months.
