Tunisia: Carthage Cement improves its Q1 revenues by 28% to 81 million dinars

The company Carthage Cement said, Tuesday, April 13, 2021, it has achieved a turnover up 28% in the first quarter of the year to 81.1 million dinars, from 63.6 million a year earlier.

The turnover on the local market went up 17%, from 55 million dinars to 65 million.

For exports, the strategy of diversification of markets and the realization of contracts signed in 2020 allowed the company to achieve a turnover of 9 million dinars at the end of the first quarter of 2021, up 738% compared to the first quarter of 2020, and exceeding the total export turnover achieved during the fiscal year 2020.

The activity of the local market has risen 17% increase, from 55 million dinars to 65 million dinars.

The company’s activity has recorded a clear progression for both clinker and cement. Indeed, the production of clinker has reached 373 thousand tons as of March 31, 2021, against 145 thousand tons in the first quarter of 2020, an increase of 156%.

For cement, Q1 production grew 29% compared to the same period of the previous year, or 466 thousand tons of cement, against 362 thousand tons in 2020.

In addition, the outstanding debt stood at 432.4 million dinars at the end of the first quarter of the current year, against 435.6 million at the end of December 2020.
