Tunisia: CONECT calls for accelerating implementation of economic reforms

The Confederation of Tunisian Citizen Enterprises (CONECT), on Wednesday, stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of economic reforms, in order to revive the global and sustainable growth.

The organization expressed at the meeting of its steering council, the wish to see the Tunisian government reach an agreement with the International Monetary Fund, so as to have a financial support.

It recalled that the organization presented during a meeting between its president Tarek Cherif and the delegation of the International Monetary Fund which was visiting Tunisia in early July, proposals that take into account the social aspect and the interest of the national economy.

The CONECT has also welcomed the identification of solutions regarding the connection of power plants from solar energy to the network.

It also stressed its concern to continue efforts to contribute to the compliance of Tunisia’s commitments under the Paris Agreement on climate and to promote the public / private partnership in the energy sector to contribute to curb energy prices, improve the standard of living of citizens and support the competitiveness of the company given the significant rise in costs.

CONECT said it believes “investment is the only way to absorb unemployment, create wealth and growth and thus ensure social stability.”

It called to accelerate the adoption of the implementing regulations allowing the implementation of the laws relating to the auto-entrepreneur and the participative financing (crowdfunding) taking into account their impacts on the creation of employment.
