Tunisia: CONECT calls for regulatory framework for parapharmaceutical industry

President of the Confederation of Tunisian Citizen Enterprises of Tunisia (CONECT), Aslan Ben Rejeb, described the first edition of the event organized Saturday by the Professional Association of Wholesale Distributors of Parapharmaceutical Products as a groundbreaking initiative bringing together all actors in the parapharmaceutical industry value chain.

In a statement to Mosaïque FM, he noted that the sector includes several Tunisian brands that compete with international brands and demonstrate strong competitiveness, confirming Tunisia’s solid position nationally and internationally.

He added that the event, which brings together around 2,000 participants (artisans, manufacturers, suppliers, and service companies), provides an opportunity to foster dialogue between the private and public sectors, with the latter being primarily responsible for structuring the industry.

He advocated for the development of a regulatory framework for the parapharmaceutical industry using an open approach that both facilitates market access and integrates the informal sector into the economic cycle.

He also highlighted issues related to e-commerce, one of the main marketing channels for the sector, and called for regulations to ensure fair competition in this area.

Ben Rejeb emphasized that this first forum is expected to become an annual event, enabling sector professionals to work on its development using all available mechanisms, given its significant operational potential: more than 3,500 points of sale, each employing three to four people.
