Consumer prices rose by 0.6% in December 2023, after a 0.3% increase in the previous month, according to a note published by the National Statistics Institute (INS), dedicated to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the month of December 2023.
This increase was mainly due to a 0.6% rise in food prices, a 1.6% rise in clothing prices and a 2.5% rise in the price of education services.
Over one month, food prices went up 0.6%, following a 4.6% rise in Vegetables, a 1.1% rise in cereal derivatives, a 0.9% rise in beef and a 0.8% rise in fish.
On the other hand, poultry prices fell by 3.2%, eggs by 3%, fruit by 0.5% and edible oils by 0.4%.
The price of garments rose by 1.6% in December, due to a 1.7% increase in the price of winter garments and a 1.5% increase in the price of footwear.
