Tunisia: current account deficit inches down to 6.4% of GDP at end September

The marked improvement in the balance of services, factor incomes and current transfers over the last few months has contributed significantly to the easing of the current account deficit, the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) said in its latest report on economic and monetary developments.

To this end, the current account deficit amounted to 7.349 billion dinars at the end of September 2019, representing 6.4% of GDP, compared with 8.423 billion dinars (8% of GDP) during the same period of 2018.

This mitigation suggests, for the whole of 2019, a current account deficit of less than 10% of GDP, says the report of the BCT.
