Tunisia: dinar loses 20% of its value against euro in 2017

The Tunisian dinar, which has declined continuously since 2011, continues to crumble against the European and US currencies.

The dinar lost 20.4% of its value against the euro, and 8.9% against the US dollar between December 2016 and December 2017.

The Tunisian dinar has even tumbled against other foreign currencies. In 2017, the dinar depreciated by 10.3% against the Japanese Yen and 15.3% against the Moroccan dirham year-on-year.

As a reminder, at the end of 2011, the US dollar was worth 1.4 dinar. Currently, it took 2.5 dinars to have a dollar.

As for the single currency, it was worth 1.95 dinar at the end of 2011. Today, the euro is worth 2.96 dinars.
