Tunisia, EIB sign two financing agreements totaling 200 MTD

Tunisia and the European Investment Bank (EIB), Thursday, signed two financing agreements with a total value of more than 200 million Tunisian dinars (€ 90 million).

The first agreement concerns the establishment of a line of credit worth € 50 million (equivalent to 112 MTD) in favor of the Fund of loans and support to local communities.

The project falls within the framework of urban development and local governance program (PDUGL) for the period 2014-2018, whose total cost is estimated at € 190 million (400 MTD).

As part of this agreement, the EIB offers to pay the amount agreed on 12 tranches with a minimum of 0.5 MTD and a maximum of € 8 million.

The loan is repayable over 19 years.

The second agreement involves, in turn, providing a financial support to the tune of € 40 million (about 90 MTD) for the Bizerte Lake development program, whose total cost is € 80 million (177 MTD).

This project aims to reduce pollution in the Lake of Bizerte to improve the quality of life there and boost the socio -economic activity.

The two agreements were signed by Lamine Doghri , Minister of Development and International Cooperation, on the Tunisian side, and Mr. Philippe De Fontaine Vive , EIB Vice President.
