High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission, Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, on Monday, reaffirmed the EU’s continued support to the Tunisian transition and its commitment to improve the means of this support.
“We are determined to do even better in close collaboration with the Tunisian government and by widely involving the civil society, so that the contribution of the EU and its Member States will result in concrete changes that meet the aspirations of Tunisians” they said in a joint statement to mark the 40th anniversary of cooperation between the EU and Tunisia (1976-2016).
“On this anniversary, the EU is proud of its privileged partnership with the Tunisian people and aspires to further intensify it in order to offer our youth the future prospects,” they added.
