Tunisia: exports of fishery products up 5.7% in value in 2019

Exports of fishery products reached nearly 27,973 tons worth 557.5 MD in 2019, i.e. a 3.67% increase in volume and 5.7% in value, in comparison with 2018.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fishery, exports of canned tuna grew in value by 28.2 MD in 2019, followed by those of crabs, canned and semi-preserved anchovy which climbed respectively to 17.1 MD and 18.2 MD.

On the other hand, exports of sardine, farmed sea bream and pulp went down by 51.2 MD, while exports of frozen and processed crabs reached 4261.8 tons worth 41.5 MD. As for sea bream exports, they hit 2,538.3 MD, i.e. 36.5 MD.

According to the same statistical data, Tunisian fishing products are exported to 57 countries, the first 10 of which have the lion’s share with 90.6% of the total value of exports.
