According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture, fishery production amounted to 105,000 tons valued at 445 million Tunisian dinars (MTD), against 101,000 tons and 433 MTD in value in the same period of 2013, up 4% in quantity and 2.7% in value.
Fish production reached 9,507 tons at the end of October 2014 against 9,594 tons during the same period in 2013.
Exports increased from 15,000 tons in quantity and 188 MTD in value over the same period in 2013 to 17,000 tons in quantity and 218 MTD in value over the first 10 months in 2014, i.e. an increase of 13.3 % in quantity and 15.9 MTD in value.
The sector’s imports reached 33,000 tons in quantity and 107 MTD in value, against 29,000 tons worth 100 MTD during the same period in 2013.
The sector’s trade balance recorded a positive surplus of 111 MD against 88 MTD during the same period in 2013.
