Tunisia: foreign exchange reserves down 1,945.4 million dinars (BCT)

Tunisia’s net foreign exchange reserves amounted to 19,731 million dinars, equivalent to 123 days of imports, as of August 18, 2021, against 21,676.4 MD, equivalent to 143 days of imports, on the same date of 2020.

It posted a decline of nearly -1,945.4 MD (-20 days of imports), according to the latest provisional statistics published by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) Thursday.

The decline in forex reserves is due, among other things, to the fall in cumulative tourism revenues by nearly 71.9%, as of August 10, 2021, during which these revenues amounted to 1,317.7 million dinars (MD), compared to the same date of the year 2020.
