Tunisia: foreign exchange reserves fall to 100 days of imports, lowest since August 2019

The net foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) now cover 100 days of imports, their lowest level since August 2019.

According to the daily data of the BCT, the foreign exchange reserves of Tunisia stood at 22,326 million dinars on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, against 20,400 million dinars on the same date in 2021 covering 121 days of imports.

This development reflects the depreciation of the Tunisian dinar against major foreign currencies but also the sharp increase in the value of our imports following the surge in prices of all imported products.

In addition, the repayment of the external date servicing has cost the sum of 6.8 billion dinars, paid obviously in foreign currency, until October 31.
