Germany has decided to convert part of the Tunisian debt into public projects, said Yassine Brahim, the Minister of Development, Investment and International Cooperation at a press briefing on Thursday in Tunis devoted to the presentation of the department’s priorities for the first 100 days of government.
The amount of debt that will be converted exceeds EUR 60 million, the Minister said, recalling that the Italian Government had decided early this year to transform part of the Tunisian debt worth EUR 25 million into investment and development projects.
France has also decided to convert EUR 60 million of Tunisia’s debt into development projects, an amount that is not significant, since the overall amount of the Tunisian debt to France is EUR 1.2 billion.
