The total amount of Tunisian household debt stood at 17.2 billion dinars, according to the latest statistics from the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).
According to the same source, the demand for credit, particularly consumption, has increased by 17%. Consumer loans totaled 2.3 billion of dinars.
The excessive indebtedness of Tunisian households may have disastrous economic and social effects.
