Tunisia: industrial production drops 1.1% at end November 2017

The industrial production index, for industry as a whole, posted a decrease of 1.1% during the eleven months of 2017 due, on the one hand, to lower production in the extractive industries sector (-9.2%), and secondly the rise in production in the manufacturing sector (+ 0.3%).
Manufacturing output rose by 0.3% in the first eleven months of 2017, mainly due to an increase in production in the mechanical and electrical industry sector by 2.9%, the rubber and plastics industry sector by 4.6% and the textile, clothing and leather sector (+ 0.6%).
On the other hand, production declined in the non-metal mineral product manufacturing sector (-5.5%), following the fall in cement production, the petroleum refining sector (-5.3%) and the chemical industry sector (-0.9%).
On the other hand, production dropped in the extractive industries sector by 9.2% as a result of a 12.2% decline in production in the energy extraction sector.
However, production increased in the non-energy extraction sector (+ 13.9%) as a result of higher crude phosphate production.
