Tunisia: Italy decides to cancel EUR 25 million of debt

Italy has decided to cancel EUR 25 million of Tunisian debt, reports Turkish Anadolu Agency.

In a statement reported by the Italian public television, the Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs said the Tunisian president Beji Caid Essebsi had requested financial assistance from Italy and cooperation in the fields of security and counter-terrorism between the two countries.

The Italian minister also announced that his country will work with France to convince the EU to fund projects in Tunisia, particularly in the field of energy.
