Tunisia: Japan proposes long-term cooperation strategy

Japanese Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs Takehiko Nakao proposed “developing a long-term cooperation strategy with Tunisia in the areas of infrastructure and development,” said a statement released Wednesday by the Finance Ministry.

Mr. Nakao, who is paying a working visit to Tunisia, had talks, Wednesday, with Finance Minister Houcine Dimassi on prospects for cooperation between the two countries. “The Japanese Vice Minister said he came to Tunisia to discuss ways to boost Tunisian-Japanese cooperation, particularly in the financial field,” the statement added.

Mr. Dimassi told Mr. Nakao “the year 2011 was difficult for the national economy but initial indicators for this year point to a revival in the normal pace of production, tourism and agriculture, despite the pressure weighing on the Tunisian economy.”
