Tunisia: UTICA to present economic program to Government

The Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) will present its economic program to the Government and to the general public late March 2012, said UTICA Chairwoman Mrs. Wided Bouchamaoui.

This program comprises practical measures related to several sectors, particularly taxation, vocational training, job creation and regional development, she added at a press conference held Wednesday in Tunis.

The UTICA Chairwoman also said the economic situation in the country has experienced a noticeable improvement since early 2012, expressing hope to reach the growth rate expected for this year, particularly in light of the improved security and social situation in the country.

She added that many foreign investors, whom she has met, in the recent period, expressed their intention to set up in several regions of the country.

Mrs. Bouchamaoui also said the next period will see the organization of major economic events, citing, in particularly, the Congress of Arab Businessmen due May 2012 and the Arab-Brazilian Business Congress.

She called on the Government to speed up the realization of job-generating and high-value-added projects to give a clearer image of the business environment in the country to Tunisian and foreign investors.
