Tunisia: Japanese agency R & I downgrades country’s outlook to negative

Japanese agency “Rating and Investment Information” (R & I) announced that it has decided to downgrade the outlook for Tunisia from stable to negative.

It explained its rating by the slow progress of the Tunisian government in strengthening the fundamentals of the economy following the delay in political stabilization that has taken a long time.

Therefore, it adds, it may become difficult to maintain the rating if the economic and financial situation would worsen more than expected, which is why the agency has downgraded the outlook of Tunisia from stable to negative.

R & I said it will monitor whether the government to be formed will be able to put an end to political unrest as quickly as possible, adding that it will closely monitor the progress in the process of elections and changes in the economic and fiscal situation in the light of which it will determine its next rating, it warns.
