Tunisia: Japanese funding agreement worth 600 MTD for STEG

The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) adopted, Tuesday at a plenary session, the draft law on the adoption of an exchange of memoranda between Tunisia and Japan under which the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) will be granted an estimated funding of 38,075,000 yen, or the equivalent of 600 million Tunisian dinars (MTD), reports TAP.

These funds, to be provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will be mobilized for the realization of the combined cycle electricity generation plant in Rades “G”, with a total cost of 762 MTD.

The loan from JICA is repayable over 40 years, including 10 years of grace, at an interest rate of 0.6% and a 0.2% commission to be paid only once, with guarantees of the Tunisian government.
