Tunisia: Les Ciments de Bizerte posts first half loss of TND 17 million

Les Ciments de Bizerte has just published its interim financial statements for the six months to June 30, 2023. These statements show a net loss of 17.2 million dinars, compared with a loss of 11.9 million dinars a year earlier.

During the first half of the year, activity was below normal capacity, with an estimated cost of 5.4 million dinars for production sold and 1.9 million dinars for inventories.

Quay revenues rose by 985 thousand dinars during the first half of 2023, to 2.1 million dinars, compared with 1.2 million dinars during the same period of the previous year.

The gross margin achieved during the first half of the year was 966 thousand dinars, compared with a negative margin of -327 thousand dinars in 2022, representing an improvement of almost 1.3 million dinars. This low gross margin is mainly due to the lack of production and the soaring prices of consumables.

In addition, net financial expenses reached 7.6 million dinars in the first half, compared with 5.1 million dinars in the same period of the previous year, up 2.5 million dinars.

This increase was mainly due to the rescheduling of certain loans in Tunisian dinars and the dinarisation and rescheduling of loans in euros.
