Tunisia: Les Ciments de Bizerte sees 7.81% decrease in total turnover in Q1 2023

The total turnover of the company “Les Ciments de Bizerte” decreased by 7.81% as of March 31, 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, reaching TND 25,857,730.

This decrease is explained by the total absence of exports, according to the company’s activity indicators for the first quarter of 2023, published by the Tunis Stock Exchange.

The total turnover of the entire domestic sector of the different products (cement, clinker, lime) has also experienced a decrease of 9.42%.

As for the company’s local turnover, it went up by TND 4,339,049 at the end of March 2023, an increase of 20.16% compared to the same period in 2022, to TND 25,857,730.

Clinker production fell 52,100 tons, i.e. -32. Cement production at Ciments de Bizerte also fell by 11,895 tons (-9.81%) compared with March 31, 2022, to 109,288 tons.

At March 31, 2023, lime production decreased by 30.14%, or 703 tons, compared to the same period in 2022. This decrease is due to the lack of demand for lime observed on the domestic market and in the sector. Despite the financial difficulties, the company stated that it had continued to meet its commitments to its suppliers.

It was also able to pay TND 15,613,988 of its medium-term loans, which fell to TND 106,246,275 at March 31, 2023.

The management loans increased to TND 50,848,525 at the end of March 2023 for the pre-financing of stocks.

For the second quarter of 2023, Ciments de Bizerte plans to increase clinker and cement production to meet demand, diversify its export customers and seek new customers, including in Libya.

It also plans to control production and distribution costs, improve its share of the local market and meet its contractual obligations for export clinker.
