Tunisia: Moroccan group AKDITAL acquires Taoufik Hospitals Group for $90 million

As part of its international expansion strategy, Moroccan group AKDITAL has signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire 100% of the capital of Taoufik Hospitals Group (THG) for a total amount of $90 million.

The transaction remains subject to obtaining the usual regulatory approvals.

Founded in 2014, THG operates four private hospitals across Tunisia, with a total capacity of more than 600 beds, including 100 intensive care beds. The group employs over 1,600 staff and works with a network of more than 500 doctors.

Its facilities are positioned as centers of excellence in several specialties, including oncology, neurology, functional rehabilitation, traumatology and interventional cardiology, among others.

They serve both local and international patients, notably from neighboring countries and sub-Saharan Africa.

In 2024, THG recorded consolidated revenue of more than $45 million, with an EBITDA margin of 35% and a net margin of 13%. Forecasts for 2025 point to growth of around 15%, largely driven by the expansion of oncology services.

The group’s model is based on high standards of care quality and safety, as evidenced by national and international accreditations, notably from the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) and ILNEAS.

This acquisition fits into a strategy of strong complementarity between AKDITAL and THG, both in terms of medical expertise and organizational models.

It aims to promote the exchange of skills and best practices, as well as talent mobility and development, while also strengthening regional medical cooperation.

Following initial establishments in the Middle East, in Riyadh with Abdul Rahman Al Mishari Hospital, then in Mecca with Bishi Hospital, this transaction marks AKDITAL’s first presence in North Africa outside Morocco.

It reflects the group’s ambition to build a regional growth platform focused on medical excellence and the enhancement of human capital.
