Tunisia: NPLs could peak at nearly 10 billion dinars

The problem of bank debt continues to worsen in Tunisia. At a conference held on Friday in Tunis, Governor of the Central Bank, Chedly Ayari revealed that Tunisian banks’ NPLs stood at 7 billion dinars and could easily reach 10 billion dinars.

Chedli Ayari explained that much of the bad debt comes from three public banks, namely BH, STB and BNA.

The Governor of the BCT further explained that the best way to face the debt of these three banks is merger.
