Tunisia: Oil production declines in Q1 2014

Domestic production of crude oil has reached 5.25 million barrels until the end of March against 5.88 million barrels during the same period of 2013, down 11%, Director of Energy Ridha Bouzouada told Africanmanager.

Regarding gas production, it is estimated at 6.99 million cubic meters during that period, posting a decrease of 0.6% compared to the three months of the previous year, the equivalent of 7.04 million.

In an interview with Africanmanager, he noted that several reasons were behind this decline. According to him, the natural decline of traditional deposits and the lack of new discoveries are the main causes.
