Tunisia: Over 100,000 jobs created in 2012

According to figures released by the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment, over 100,000 jobs were created in 2012, which contributed to a decline in the unemployment rate of around 2.2 percentage points from 18.9% in December 2011 to 16.7% currently.

These results are largely positive in relation to the balance of the year 2011, during which the number of job seekers has increased by 137 thousand people.

Before 2012, the number of jobs created per year has never exceeded 55,000, said the ministry, which welcomes the “performance” made during the past year.
