The overall refinancing volume has not exceeded 9.5 billion dinars as at May 29, 2020, down by 38% compared to the same date in 2019, according to financial indicators published Friday by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).
Total interbank transactions, on the other hand, doubled during this period, rising from 803 million dinars at the end of May 2019 to 1604 at the end of May 2020.
As for the money market rate (MMR), it stood at 6.80% on the same date, against 7.83% a year earlier.
BCT indicators also showed an appreciation of the Tunisian dinar against the US dollar and the euro.
It should be noted, for example, that on May 28, 2020, the 1 dollar was trading at 2.88 dinars, whereas it was worth 2.98 dinars in May 2019 and the 1 euro at 3.17 dinars (3.33 dinars in May 2019).
