Tunisia: parliament approves EUR 455.5-million loan agreement with IBRD

The bill No. 2015-59 approving a loan agreement signed, October 2, 2015, between Tunisia and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) in the amount of EUR 455.5 Million, was adopted Monday by the House of People’s Representatives (HPR). 128 MPs voted the bill, 20 objected to it and 3 abstained.

The HPR began Sunday night examining this bill, and postponed its adoption due to the small number of MPs.

This appropriation is intended to finance the program to support the state budget in the area of governance and creation of job opportunities. This is in order to accelerate economic recovery and address the negative impacts of internal and external financial balances to cover the deficit recorded in the financial resources of the state.
