Tunisia: phosphate production stops in most sites of Gafsa

Sit-ins have flared up in the governorate of Gafsa one week after the resumption of production at the phosphate sites.

These movements have hit the cities of Redeyef, Om Larayes, Mdhilla and Kaff Eddour in the delegation of Metlaoui.

According to the correspondent of RTCI, a general strike was called in the production sites of phosphate by young unemployed who need to be employed in the units of the Gafsa Phosphate Company.

Train carrying phosphate products were blocked, whereas clashes erupted in Mdhilla between individuals from different tribes.

Finally, sit-inners continue to occupy the seat of the Governorate of Gafsa, deserted by the Governor who has taken refuge in a hotel in the city.
