Tunisia: public service wage bill rises 16% to 4.9 billion dinars in Q1

According to the examination of the provisional results of the execution of the State Budget at the end of March 2020, the management expenditure of the Tunisian State went up by 15.1% to reach 6.2 billion dinars, against 5.4 billion at the end of March 2019.

This amount has been allocated to cover the expenses related to the public service wage bill to the tune of 4.9 billion dinars, an increase of +15.9% compared to the end of March 2019, representing 79.1% of the total management expenses of the State.

The State Budget for the financial year 2020 provides for a rise of +13.5% of the public service wage bill to reach 19 billion dinars, against 16.7 billion at the end of 2019, which represents 67.3% of the total management expenditure of the State over the whole year 2020.

Expenditure on goods and services amounted to 341 million dinars (+12.5%), while expenditure on interventions and transfers amounted to 957 million dinars (+12%).
