The remittances from Tunisians living abroad hit 7.8 billion dinars at the end of November 2022. The amount of money sent by the Tunisian Diaspora to their country of origin is up 920 million dinars (+13.4%) compared to the same period last year.
Remittances from Tunisian migrants represent twice the tourism revenue recorded by Tunisia over the eleven months of the year and almost four times the foreign direct investment (FDI).
The volume of remittances from the Tunisian diaspora shows how vital migration is for Tunisia in terms of foreign exchange earnings and development.
Expressed in dollars, the expat remittances amounted, at the end of last November, to 2.5 billion dollars (average monthly rate of the dollar = 3.104 dinars).
