Tunisia: reported industrial investment down 36.9% to 304.7 MD at end February

Reported industrial investments fell 36.9% to 304.7 million dinars (MD) in the first 2 months of 2022 compared to the same period last year, the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (French: APII) said in a note.

Likewise, the number of reported projects dropped 7.4%. The number of jobs to be created followed suit, posting a 4.9% decline.

Reported investments in totally exporting industries plunged 62.5% to 104.6 MD, while those earmarked for the creation of new projects edged down 21.3% to 155.7MD.

Foreign industrial investments fell 63.2%. The downward trend was also seen in partnership investments (-73.8%).

The APII reported a 52.2% drop in investments in regional development areas. The share of these areas across the country went down from 68% to 51.6% by the end of February.
