Tunisia: reported investments in services up 22.9% in H1 2021

Reported investments in the services sector went up 22.9% to 542.4 million dinars (MD) in the first half of 2021, against 441.4 MD during the same period of 2020, according to the latest data published by the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (French: APII).

Of these investments, 17.5 MD were in the totally exporting regime and 524.9 MD in other regimes.

Reported foreign holding investments amounted to 28.7 MD, including 17 MD of joint ventures and 11.7 MD of 100% foreign investments.

As for the geographical distribution of investments, the reported investments in services reached 478.9 MD in Eastern regions and 63.5 MD in the Western regions.

Reported investments in industry-related services rose 24.2% to 172.4 MD in the first 6 months of 2021.

Reported investments relating to vocational training saw a 17.4% increase, reaching 5.4 MD.

Likewise, investments relating to research and development services grew 80.1 MD against almost no reported investments in this field during the same period of 2020.

However, there were no investments reported in the sector of services relating to environment protection in the first 6 months of 2021.

Decreases were noted in reported investments studies and consultancy services (-13.2%, to 13.8 MD), computer services (-55.8% to 13.3 MD), transport (-28.4% to 45.6 MD) and telecommunications (-72.6% to 4.5 MD).
