Tunisia: Strong growth and rising profitability for UBCI in 2025

UBCI has crossed a new profitability threshold in 2025, with net income reaching 65.8 million dinars, compared to 54 million dinars in 2024, a remarkable 21.7% year-on-year increase. The performance translates into earnings per share of 3.292 dinars.

The bank’s net banking income (NBI), a key activity indicator, followed the upward trend to hit 351 million dinars, representing a 9.4% rise from the previous year. Growth was mainly driven by interest and similar income, which stood at 391.4 million dinars, alongside a sharp increase in gains from the trading portfolio and financial operations.

On the lending front, customer loans, a core engine for economic financing, grew to 3,514 million dinars.

On the liabilities side, the bank continues to enjoy solid depositor confidence. Customer deposits and assets totaled 3,910 million dinars, further strengthening the institution’s financial base. Shareholders’ equity also increased, reaching 589.2 million dinars.

Despite a challenging economic environment, UBCI maintained a prudent policy. Loan loss provisions amounted to 20.6 million dinars. At the same time, the bank successfully reduced its general operating expenses from 75.2 million dinars in 2024 to 68.5 million in 2025.

UBCI has now laid out its corporate social responsibility (CSR) ambitions. The bank has set clear targets for 2026, including the classification of projects according to their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risk, as well as increased support for sustainable productive investment financing.

With these results, UBCI confirms its position as a major player in Tunisia’s banking landscape, combining financial solidity with a drive for modernization in the service of its clients and shareholders.

The Annual General Meeting, scheduled for April 28, 2026, will give shareholders an opportunity to ratify these performances and look ahead to the bank’s development prospects.
