Tunisia: Telecommunications sector sees 2% increase in revenue in June 2025

The turnover of Tunisia’s telecommunications sector rose by 2% in June 2025, reaching around 339.9 million dinars (MD).

According to data published Friday by the National Telecommunications Authority, this increase follows a market value of around 232.5 MD in May 2025, which had also seen a 2% rise. It is worth noting that in April 2025, the market recorded a 6% drop in financial transactions, falling to 325.3 MD.

Financial transactions in the telecommunications sector had posted a sharp increase of about 23% in March 2025, reaching 346.4 MD, after a decline in February 2025 coinciding with the launch of the fifth generation (5G) service.

The Authority reported that in the fixed-line market, the monthly evolution rate of subscriptions per 100 households reached around 51.9% in June 2025, compared with 50.3% in June 2024 and 49.1% in June 2023.

The number of Internet service subscriptions per 100 households increased to 50.1% in June 2025, up from 45.4% in June 2024 and 47.4% in June 2023.

The mobile telephony market recorded a drop in monthly subscriptions per 100 inhabitants, falling from 135.6% in June 2023 to 125.5% in June 2024, and reaching 122.1% in June 2025.

The monthly subscription rate for mobile internet per 100 inhabitants also declined, standing at 89.3% in June 2025, compared to 91.5% in June 2024 and 94% in June 2023.

The Authority attributed this drop in mobile phone and mobile internet access rates to the termination of subscriptions from a virtual mobile network operator that ceased operations in 2024.

This decline was also linked to the update of telecommunications company data as part of the implementation of Resolution No. 3 of 2024, issued by the National Telecommunications Authority, regarding the protection of user rights when subscribing to public mobile telephony services.
