Tunisia: Textile and clothing exports up 7% in Q1

Exports of the textiles and clothing sector posted an increase in value of 7.06% in the first quarter of 2013, compared to the same period in 2012, amounting to 472 million dinars, while imports decreased by 2.87% for a total of 301 million dinars.

The trade balance has increased by 14.6 points in March from 142.5% in March 2012 to 157% in March 2013, according to the Economic Letter of the Technical Center of Textiles (CETTEX).

Major customers of Tunisia during the January-March 2013 period were the United Kingdom (34.3%), Germany (+15%), Spain (+6.9%), the Netherlands (+5.9%), France (+3.7%), Belgium (+3.4%) and Italy (-7.9%).
