From the beginning of the year until November 20, tourism receipts and workers’ remittances have generated total revenues of around TND 13.1 billion, according to statistics published on Tuesday by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).

Tourism receipts rose by 32%, from TND 4.8 billion in November 2022 to TND 6.4 billion today, while workers’ remittances increased by 3.3% to TND 6.6 billion. This increase contributed to a rise in net foreign exchange reserves, which stood at TND 24.8 billion on November 27, equivalent to 111 days of imports, compared with TND 21.9 billion (98 days of imports) a year earlier.

Debt servicing has increased significantly, by 43%, from TND 7.3 billion on November 20, 2022 to TND 10.5 billion at present. The BCT’s financial indicators also show an increase in the refinancing volume by 15.5% to TND 13.2 billion and in total banking transactions by 38.6% to TND 2.3 billion dinars on November 27, 2023.
