Tunisia -Tourism: indicators turn to green, says Afif Kchouk

Minister of Tourism, Salma Elloumi, recently, announced that a slight recovery of tourism in Tunisia is expected in summer, saying positive indicators were recorded in the current tourist season.

For his part, President of the International Tourism Market (MIT), Afif Kchouk told African Manager “for the first time, indicators of European markets have improved during the last ten days: the Maltese market posted an increase of 17.4%, Turkey + 1.4%, + 700% Russia, Algeria + 17.5% and the Chinese market + 181.9%.

The President of MIT also added that signs of recovery have also been recorded throughout the month of May, saying that the Ukrainian market has risen (130.7%), same for Greece (+ 7.3%), Algeria (+ 7.9%), China (+ 54.4%) and Tunisians living abroad (+ 3.4%).

He said in this regard: “we believe that the indicators for the months of July and August will be positive, especially with the achievement of good figures in these markets.

We are called to make diligent efforts to save the summer season and reach at least the 2015 figures in the period of July and August 2016. From September, we have prepared a special program to improve the sector’s performance and reach the figures of 2014 “.

It should be reminded that the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Tunisian National Tourist Office (ONTT) has announced the establishment of a comprehensive roadmap aimed to get the Tunisian tourism out of the rut, through the launch of several campaigns abroad for the promotion of the Tunisian destination.
