Tunisia: trade balance posts 307-MTD deficit

The main point that emerges from figures released by the Ministry of Industry to African Manager is that Tunisia’s trade balance is in deficit in the first five months of the current year.

Through its Director General of Food Industries, Noureddine Agrebi, the department said the trade balance stood at a -307 MTD.

Indeed, exports decreased by 30.8% compared to the same period of 2015, from 1,945 million dinars to 1,190.5 dinars at the end of May.

Imports reached 1,479.9 million dinars, down 15% from the same period last year, equivalent to 1,762.6 million dinars.

The official also said the coverage rate is 79.5%, down compared to 2015, or 110%.
