Tunisia: trade deficit falls 12.4% in Q1 2021

The trade deficit has narrowed by 12.4% in Q1 2021, to -3069.335 million dinars (MD) against -3505.654 MD, in the same period of 2020, according to data published Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The coverage rate has, on its part, gained 3.4 points compared to the same period of 2020 to 78.4% in the first quarter of 2021, against 75% during the same period in 2020.

Tunisia’s external trade at current prices posted an increase by 6.2% in exports to 11161.9 MD in Q1 2021, from 10514.9 MD, during the same period 2020.

In the same way, imports recorded saw a 1.5% rise at the end of March 2021, against a fall of (-11,4%) during the first quarter of the year 2020.

In value, the imports reached 14,231,2 MD against 14,020,6 MD, during the same period of 2020.
