The trade deficit narrowed to 5,941.7 million dinars, at the end of May 2021, from 6,099.9 million dinars in the same period last year, according to a note on “Foreign Trade at current prices May 2021” published Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The coverage rate has also improved from 71% in May 2020 to 75.8% in May 2021.
During the five months of the year 2021, exports saw an increase of (+24.7%), as against a decline of (-23.8%) during the same period of 2020.
They reached 18,609.9 MD, against 14,921.4 MD during the same period of the year 2020.
Similarly, imports posted a rise of (+16,8%), compared with a fall of (-24,2%) during the five months of the year 2020.
In value, they reached 24,551,6 MD against 21,021,3 MD during the same period of the year 2020.
