Tunisia: Tunisair to resume flights to Libya in April

The resumption of air traffic with Libya, announced for November 15, 2020, will finally take place in April 2021.

Minister of Transport and Logistics, Moez Chakchouk and Habib Mekki director general of civil aviation made this announcement before members of the parliamentary committee on administrative reform, good governance, the fight against corruption and control of management of public funds.

Mr. Mekki explained the delay by the prohibitive rate required by insurance companies. Considering Libya a war zone, they initially demanded payment of 350 dinars per ticket.

Tunisair, which has already secured a discount consisting of 100 dinars, continues to negotiate to improve the offer allowing it to be competitive in the Libyan market, which in the past accounted for 30% of its turnover.
